Moreover, when you mix royal jelly with honey, you prevent it from spoiling. You no longer need to put it in the fridge. This is one of the wisdoms behind adding it to honey since ancient times.

How is royal jelly obtained?

Beekeepers can prepare cells that mimic the queen bee cells in beehives, have worker bees secrete milk into the cells to feed the larvae in these cells, and with close monitoring and careful work, royal jelly can be produced and harvested.

The benefits of royal jelly and its importance for humans

The most important feature of royal jelly is that it is effective on cell renewal, production and metabolism in the body. It provides strength and vitality to the organism and allows it to renew itself. ¹

Royal jelly is a cell regenerator

The most important feature of royal jelly is that it is effective on cell renewal, production and metabolism in the body. It provides strength and vitality to the organism and allows it to renew itself. Studies on these issues in insects, birds and mammals have shown that it significantly increases life expectancy. ¹ It has been shown that the number of mitochondria increases, aging decreases and important cellular activities increase with the effect of royal jelly.

Strengthens the immune system

Scientific research by the NIH (American National Institutes of Health) reports that royal jelly proteins are a powerful immune regulator, increase immune defense, and are a strong defender against inflammation in the intestines and throughout the body with their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. ¹

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect

It has been proven that Royal Jelly strengthens the immune system and protects your body against various diseases. Scientific research has shown that royal jelly can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body, and tests have shown that specific amino acids, fatty acids and other phenolic compounds in royal jelly have strong antioxidant effects.

Body development and fertility

Royal jelly treatment increased body size, cell size and fertility in given animals.

Long life and healing effect

In a scientific study conducted on mice, it was found that royal jelly significantly extended the average lifespan of mice by 25%. In another experiment, it did not extend the lifespan of mice with genetically heterogeneous head tilt (displaying vestibular dysfunction, unstable position and inability to swim), but it significantly delayed age-related deterioration , improved motor functions, positive improvement in the physical performance of treated mice in four tests (grip strength, wire hanging, horizontal bar and rotarod), decreased age-related muscle atrophy and increased satellite cell markers (muscle stem cells).

Alzheimer's and Royal Jelly

Injections were made into rats with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and three treatment groups were subjected to experimental observation, and it was observed that location-finding memory increased.

In a study investigating the effect of royal jelly on spatial memory in old rats, it was observed that rats fed royal jelly had improved spatial memory by up to 48.5% compared to the old rats in the control group.

Another Alzheimer's created rat model, the effect of royal jelly on spatial learning and memory was examined in a study. One group of rats was fed with food containing royal jelly (3% by weight) (lyophilized royal jelly mixed with powdered normal food) and the other group was fed with normal food for 10 days. Later, spatial learning and memory in rats were tested with the Morris water maze test; it was shown that the use of royal jelly significantly improved learning and memory deficits.

One study found that royal jelly had a beneficial effect on neurological symptoms of menopausal disorders in rats.

MS Disease (Multiple Sclerosis) and Royal Jelly

In a clinical study conducted on patients diagnosed with MS, aiming to determine the effect of royal jelly supplementation on quality of life, 100 MS patients, including an experimental group and a control group, participated in the study. The experimental group took royal jelly capsules for 90 days, while the control group took a placebo. The results showed that the experimental group experienced a significantly higher average quality of life score compared to the control group. ¹¹ In addition, there was a significant improvement in daily activity status scores. These findings have been reported to indicate that incorporating royal jelly supplements into the daily routine has a positive effect on the quality of life of MS patients. ¹¹

Scientific studies on MS by researchers from the University of Basel in Switzerland and the University of Shiraz in Iran have reported the positive effects of royal jelly on MS, which have been associated with the alleviation of chronic pain, neuroplasticity and the modification of neurotransmitters that play a role in anxiety and depression.

Another scientific study investigated the effects of royal jelly on mice, a model for MS, and concluded that in mice subjected to daily assessments, royal jelly and its active ingredient 10-HDA prevented the development of MS. The findings in the same study emphasize the potential therapeutic benefits of royal jelly and 10-HDA in MS and support their use in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. ¹⁰

The same sources reported that royal jelly interacts with specific genes and molecular pathways related to MS, highlighting the positive effects of royal jelly supplementation on the quality of life and daily activities of MS patients. These findings support the investigation of bee products as a potential therapeutic option to manage MS symptoms and disease progression. ¹² (Figure 1, First image).

Menopause and Royal Jelly

In a clinical study examining the effect of royal jelly on menopausal symptoms, 200 postmenopausal women were given royal jelly capsules for 8 weeks. The study found that it was effective in relieving menopausal symptoms. ¹³

Forty-two women with symptoms such as back pain, waist pain, and anxiety disorders during menopause were given 800 mg of royal jelly per day for 12 weeks, while the other group was not given any. No side effects were observed within 4 weeks. As a result of the study, it was stated that symptoms such as back and waist pain were relieved in the royal jelly group compared to the placebo group. ¹³

In a study conducted to evaluate the effect of royal jelly on vulvovaginal atrophy and urinary problems, 90 women were divided into three groups. The women used 15% royal jelly vaginal cream, lubricant and conjugated estrogen for three months. Before and after the intervention

vaginal cytology and quality of life were evaluated. As a result of the study, it was determined that the use of royal jelly vaginal cream increased the quality of life in postmenopausal women. It was also found to be more effective than conjugated estrogen and lubricant in terms of improving sexual and urinary functions.

Royal jelly has natural estrogenic activities and is effective in improving the quality of life after menopause.¹³

Cancer and Royal Jelly

In studies on mouse breast cancer, royal jelly treatment has been shown to reduce tumor mass and improve antioxidative activity in multiple organs, including the kidneys and liver. ¹⁴
