This honey, which is golden yellow when taken from the hive, has a unique taste. It is considered a light honey. Sunflower honey is known for crystallizing very quickly. It is among the affordable honeys. However, a real sunflower honey is healthy and delicious.

4. Pine Honey

Pine Honey

Approximately ninety percent (90%) of the world's pine honey production is produced in Turkey. An interesting aspect of pine honey is that it is obtained by honeybees collecting the sweet substances formed on the tree by living creatures known as "basra" that live in pine trees.

Unlike other honeydew honeys, it is not obtained from tree secretions but from the secretions of other creatures, and is generally produced in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions. It is a dark, murky brown color. You may encounter a sharp taste and a pine tree-specific aroma. It is widely used because it is good for throat disorders and is resistant to freezing.

5. Flower Honey

Honey produced in a region with many flowers, in pastures such as plateaus, plains, hills, slopes, countryside, steppes, etc. is generally called flower honey . It is known as "Polyfloral Honey", that is, honey with many flowers.

It is easy to eat and delicious. Some flower honeys are dark and some are light. The color of honey varies from region to region and from flower to flower.

Flower honeys are honeys that have a tendency to freeze. Pure and raw flower honey freezes, crystallizes; it is popularly called candied, this is a completely natural situation in the mathematics of honey.

6. Crazy Honey

It is the honey produced by bees using the nectar they take from the “rhododendron” plant.

It is consumed in very small amounts - teaspoons etc. Otherwise, it can cause dizziness, drowsiness, drunkenness and diarrhea. In excessive consumption, it can be poisonous and even cause death. The HMF values are different from other honeys and it is actually a poisonous, toxic honey.

Even if it crystallizes faster, it does not matter and its quality does not change. It is one of the beautiful honeys of our country.

9. Buckwheat Honey

The World Beekeeping Federation unanimously chose Buckwheat Honey as the best honey in the world in 2013. It is obtained from places where buckwheat is cultivated throughout the area where it is produced. The production of this honey, also known as “Grechka”, is more one-way and the bee feeds only on the buckwheat flower, which contains most vitamins. Thus, a pure honey is obtained and buckwheat honey carries all the vitamins and amino acids contained in the buckwheat plant.

Pure nutrition produces an almost red colored, intensely aromatic and high vitamin value honey. The reason for this intense aroma is that the buckwheat plant has been flowering for a long time.

Honey producers have begun planting buckwheat in some places to meet the flower needs of their bees.

It is a precious honey from a precious plant…

Oak Honey produced in the Kırklareli Longoz Forests, which are under protection in the Yıldız (Istranca) Mountains in Turkey, belongs to this region and has been registered as a geographical indication. It is a honey as wonderfully rich as the forests it belongs to.

Longoz Forests can be defined as microtropic climate. Being flooded oak forests has affected the nectar of oak trees, and has also affected the plants and animals of the region. The honey bees of the region are also under protection and they make this honey as they know in this isolated region that has been closed for thousands of years. Oak secretion is not a secretion of insects, it is oak secretions leaking from the acorn leaves and trunk parts of the oak tree.

The forests of this region are known as the Istranca Mountains. Longoz Forests, which are protected by both Turkey and Bulgaria, are important forests that contain extremely rare examples of wildlife and botanical life.

This honey is dark brown in color, resembling black color with its depth of the cap. It has been documented by Karadeniz Technical University that it contains 5 times more antioxidants and minerals compared to other honeys.

15. Citrus Honey

It is also one of the most sought-after types of honey due to its unique aroma. As with many other types of honey, it has properties that support human health and it is also possible to obtain its benefits both by consuming it and by applying it on the skin. Citrus honey, which has been determined to contain abundant and high levels of calcium phosphate and iron phosphate, is light yellow and fluid. It has a smell and flavor specific to fruit trees.

In a study published in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry in 2011, the flavonoid contents of different types of honey were tested, and it was determined that citrus honey contains antioxidants called quercetin, hesperitin, luteolin, kaempferol, galangin, naringenin and isorhamnetin, which have anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-cancer effects, and also support the immune system.

Which types of honey should we prefer?

Let's not forget that bees never make bad honey. They never steal from the material or compromise on quality. However, only malicious people can use bees for their evil purposes and produce fraudulent honey.
